The Next Karaoke Star Album Turns One Year Old!

This past Saturday marked one year since I released my full-length debut, The Next Karaoke Star

To say I was a bit overwhelmed by the results is an understatement. I’d never had a project receive over 1,000 streams in the first 24 hours, and a year later some of the songs are still getting streams every single day. I received enough pre-orders to press a limited run vinyl, which was a dream come true. The “how” still perplexes me, but my song “Still Feels the Same” ended up on Whiskey Riff’s New Music Friday playlist. That blew my freaking mind.

The greatest things I took away from this project were experience and confidence. When I first recorded demos in February 2020, I was determined that I would finally go into a studio with a full band and cut a record. The next month, it became evident that I would have to do it a bit more unconventionally. There were so many things I attempted for this project that I had never tried before - writing string arrangements, building acoustic panelings, creating a written marketing plan, etc. The result of all this learning was a record that I still am very proud of a year later, and one that’s kept me driven to do more and better things. Making this record helped me realize I was capable of more than I believed, and has inspired me to keep working towards even more.

What confidence looks like

Confidence, and an alright name for a newsletter - Fiction & Fact was pulled out of the album's seventh song "She's Not Coming Back."

I’m working on a lot of new material. I’ve completed 4-5 new songs since I started writing daily a month ago, and I can’t wait to share them with you. Still, when I look back I have a record that I can be really proud of. Thanks to everyone who has listened and supported me through this process. New, bigger, and better things are coming.
